CREATE WITH NABALIS: Guidance of Design

CNC is employed in the manufacture of balisong. However, due to certain limitations in CNC and the affordability of final balisong production, there is something you need to know and avoid in your balisong design.

Avoiding Ultra-Fine Lines

The CNC Dead Center could not engrave ultra-fine lines in the process of machining. If the diameter of the dead center is less than 4mm, it’s very likely to be broken. So, the shortest diameter of lines in your design should be equal to or greater than 2mm.

Avoiding Pointy Patterns

CNC dead center could not engrave the pointy patterns because of the machining limitation. The dead center is easily damaged at high speeds when carving the pointy patterns. You should make a blunt and round pattern on your balisong.

Avoiding Three-Dimensional or Intricate Patterns

Unlike metal die casting, which can rapidly shape the patterns on metal.

Computer Numerical Control machining is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery.

The process can be used to control a range of complex machinery, from grinders and lathes to mills and CNC routers.

However, the more complex and three-dimensional the shape, the more time and the higher cost of processing and machining.

Considering the mass production and the cost control, please make the design simple and uncomplicated.
